What is Pitta Dosha? (Fire Element)
Pitta (Fire + Water) is popularly referred to as the fiery dosha, and has the properties of being hot, light, and oily. This dosha is responsible for any kind of metabolism, digestion, and transformation taking place in the body.
Energy to initiate signals at the gene level is due to Pitta (fire). Enzymes, hormones responsible for digestion, metabolism, biotransformation. Pitta is also responsible for heat in the body, vision, hunger, thirst, taste, the softness of the body, pigmentation of the skin, the luster of the skin, intelligence, cheerfulness, and courage.
Pitta Imbalance:
An imbalance of Pitta can lead to the development of excess heat in the liver leading to anger and aggression, irritation and frustration, acidity, liver and gallbladder disorders, inflammation and dryness in hands, and lack of shine in skin. Pitta imbalance is typically characterized by redness, burning sensations, heat, or inflammation, anger and aggression.
When in balance Pitta exudes cheerfulness, courage and commanding ability.
